"Discover Star Vista; Changing Lives For 55 Years And Counting"

Our November speaker will be Sara Mitchell, CEO of StarVista. StarVista is a non-profit organization that has been helping people throughout San Mateo County navigate life’s challenges for over 55 years. StarVista provides counseling, crisis prevention, youth housing, and outreach programs that reach tens of thousands of people in our community each year. Their work supporting children, youth, adults, and families experiencing life challenges has been significant and makes StarVista a leader in mental health care in San Mateo County.
 
Of particular interest to many SMCDFA members is that StarVista will be part of a 2-year, pilot program with San Mateo County to respond to 911 calls that involve  individuals that may be exhibiting behaviors consistent with mental illness or substance abuse. StarVista Clinicians will be assigned to one of four local police agencies in South San Francisco, Daly City, San Mateo, and Redwood City.
