NIGHTMARE
A landscape once rich, lush, vibrant,
Teeming with life from mountains to the sea,
Now ravaged, barren, leafless, burnt,
Its inhabitants forced to flee.
But where can climate migrants go?
Coastal cities, river towns, all submerged,
The rest of the land with fire aglow,
How from this nightmare can we emerge?
Awake now, we ask ourselves, “Is it too late?”
Are we up to the effort, the sacrifice, too,
All that’s required to avoid that dread fate?
Our planet cries out for our help—me and you.

2021 in Review
With Ossoff and Warnock and Harris and Biden
Last January we Democrats quite high were ridin’;
Then came Yellen and Buttigieg, Becerra, and Halland
Granholm, Mayorkas, Blinken, and Garland.
We rang out the old and rang in the new.
Trump’s lackeys were out, we had a blue crew.
Rejoined the Paris Accords and the WHO
And out of Afghanistan soon did we go
No longer were Muslims from our country banned
And then came the American Rescue Plan.
Wages are up, no time for dismay!
We’re building back better, new jobs on the way.
Let’s remember the progress since this year began.
Set our sights on the midterms and think “Yes, we can!”

Fossil fuel gases and evading taxes
Pandemic dragged on by damn anti-vaxers
Rittenhouse free after human hunting,
These are a few of my scariest things
Immigrants drowning and Trump in the media
Climate change causing earth septicemia
Humans won’t stop their global warming,
These are a few of my scariest things
When I’m happy, cuz I’m retired, when I’m feeling loved!
I simply remember my scariest things, and then I don’t feel so good!
Capitol rioters and rampant wildfires,
A Big Lie that makes outlooks more dire,
Manchin and Sinema add a bad sting,
These are a few of my scariest things!
Prices increasing, and oceans depleting,
Laws to stop Voting and Forests keep shrinking
Womens’ Rights cursed by crazy right wings,
These are a few of my scariest things!
When I’m happy, cuz I’m retired, when I’m in the woods,
I simply remember my scariest things, and then I don’t feel so good!

Speakers on issues on like saving the delta,

There’s been some patches where we disagree,
But we are practiced in civility!

On how together we could,
I know of this group and what it can do,
And that’s why I feel so good!
