What is the future of the Great American Experiment called Democracy? San Mateo County Democracy for America is thrilled to bring Marshall Ganz to share his wisdom with us. Marshall Ganz teaches, researches, and writes on leadership, narrative, strategy, and organization in social movements, civic associations, and politics.
As a young man he left Harvard before graduating to register black Mississippi voters. Marhsall later spent 16 years with the United Farm Workers, gaining experience in union, political, and community organizing and serving on the national executive board.
Marshall used this knowledge as he later worked with grassroots groups to develop new organizing programs and designed innovative voter mobilization strategies for local, state, and national electoral campaigns. He was instrumental in the design of the grassroots organization for the 2008 Obama for President campaign.
This is sure to be an engaging and interactive conversation, one where we learn more about leadership, taking risks and responsibility, and new ways to bring people together in our organizing efforts.
