San Mateo County Democracy for America is honored to present Congresswoman Jackie Speier as our speaker for our first meeting of 2022--we couldn't think of a better way to start the year!
This remarkable legislator was named to Newsweek’s list of 150 “Fearless Women” in the world and one of “Politico's 50” most influential people in American politics for bringing the Me Too reckoning to Congress.
She proudly represents California’s 14th Congressional District, stretching from the southern portion of San Francisco through San Mateo County to East Palo Alto.
Prior to Congress, Jackie spent 18 years in both chambers of the California Legislature, where she had more than 300 bills signed into law by both Republican and Democratic governors.
Task Forces for 2022!
We will also be forming new Task Forces for 2022 at our January meeting. First, our current Task Forces will review their 2021 activities:
Social Justice, co-chaired by Gail Sredanovic and Diana Reddy;
Healthcare, chaired by Elsa Schafer (with monthly COVID-19 updates from Marshall Dinowitz);
Elections 2021, chaired by Greg Loew
Climate Change, co-chaired by Flavia Franco and Greg Loew.
We will propose new Task Forces at this meeting - so bring your ideas!
Will it be Elections?
