BRING YOUR PASSION
It’s been months since the SMCDFA community met in person and the world has changed in so many ways… most of them distressing and confusing. Join us on April 2, 2025, as we meet in person at the Woodside Road Methodist Church in Redwood City.
Last month we learned from Bruce Hahne about the Coup and ways we can Fight Back. In April SMCDFA will continue the conversion as a community, learning from each other what is going on and how we can respond to each new Federal change.
We will begin our meeting with a Community Conversation. What is on your mind these days? What are your passions? What are your priorities? Is there a Project or Action you want to take? Can we help you find the volunteers you need?
We will also split up into smaller groups to Organize for Action, to work on our areas of interest:
• Write postcards for the upcoming special elections and to the White House. We will have postcards available and tips on messaging.
• Signup to phonebank for special elections and to save Medicare/Medicaid.
• Learn about local Rapid Response training to help immigrants in our community.
• Make posters to take to local street actions (see our list of upcoming events). We will provide supplies and message suggestions - you bring a poster board (we will have some available). Reuse an old election sign! (We have paper to cover old signs.)
This meeting will start with a SMCDFA tradition - desserts! Come early, grab a treat, and take some time to renew friendships and make new ones!
Last, don’t forget to take care of yourself in these stressful times. Whether you take a break from social media or take a walk in your local park, do something that cares for your physical and mental health.
