October 2019 SMCDFA Monthly Meeting

RECLAIM OUR VOTE: Outreach Campaign to Fight Voter Suppression

Speaker: Andrea Miller. Founding Board Member of the Center for Common Ground, Executive Director of People Demanding Action, and Co-Executive Director of Progressive Democrats of America.

RECLAIM OUR VOTE is a volunteer-driven, nonpartisan voter outreach campaign to fight voter suppression in various states that have been severely impacted, especially in the South.

Reclaim Our Vote is organized by the Center for Common Ground of Virginia, with the help of the NAACP, Black Voters Matter, VoteRiders, DemLabs, Mi Familia Vota and other organizations.

This fall, Americans across the country are contacting voters of color, some of whom have been purged from the voter rolls, to ask them to re-register and to vote in important federal and statewide elections.

UPDATE: You're in for a real treat if you can come to the film & pizza party we've just added as a lead into Wednesday's regular meeting.

At 6:00 pm Wednesday we will be showing Brave New Film's acclaimed documentary "Suppressed: The Fight to Vote."  AND we'll be serving pizza and salad.

SMCDFA members who have seen the film say it's the perfect lead into Andrea Miller's presentation about Reclaim Our Vote, which will be featured during our regularly scheduled meeting at 7:00.

Please RSVP if you will be coming at 6:00 so we know how many pizzas to order.  There's no need to RSVP if you can only come for the regularly scheduled meeting at 7:00.

Meeting logistics:

Wednesday, October 2, at 6:00 pm for film & pizza party, and/or 7:00 pm for the regular meeting
