Samaritan House & Second Harvest - Get to know us better!

Have you ever wondered what happens to the school supplies and toys we donate to Samaritan House? and what happens to the food we donate to Second Harvest? Come to our July 5 meeting to hear more about these great organizations that do much more than you may think in San Mateo County. Laura Bent, Chief Operating Officer of Samaritan House, and Bernadette White, Community Relations Coordinator for Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, will be there to give us a better understanding of the numerous programs they each offer in our county. Hopefully we will also find out new ways we can volunteer with these groups in the future.

As this program is brought to you by SMCDFA Community Services, we want to make a big effort to support both of these groups in July. We will be collecting school supplies for Samaritan House and canned goods for Second Harvest - and money is always welcome!

Samaritan House Back-to-School drive

It's that time of year already! You can donate either new backpacks or school supplies or new backpacks filled with the complete list of school supplies for elementary / middle / high school students. Supplies needed include lined paper, pencils, markers, pens (blue, black, red), highlighters, rulers, and binders.

Second Harvest donations

Second Harvest welcomes all foods, but their "most wanted" list includes tuna, peanut butter, Olive or canola oil, and spices. See http://www.shfb.org/mostneededfoods for the full list.
